What to expect
Gravel and compacted forest tracks with minimal gradient—this is easy pedalling throughout. The route is well-signed with clear waymarking. You'll cycle through typical New Forest landscape with open areas and wooded sections. Watch for free-roaming ponies, cattle and donkeys on the open access land. After rain, some patches can become muddy, so tyres with reasonable grip are helpful.

Dogs are welcome on this open-access route but must be kept under control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds March to July. Wear sturdy footwear or use a hybrid or mountain bike with decent tyres for wet conditions. There is no charge for access. The route is short enough for a child's first Forest cycle or a quick lunch-break ride.
