What to expect
Expect a steady pace through narrow, uneven streets typical of medieval Edinburgh. Your guide will stop frequently to explain the layers of history—from street names to building facades to the people buried beneath your feet. You'll hit the obvious monuments, but the real payoff comes in the quieter side streets where locals know the scandals and secrets. The route involves some climbing and descents, though nothing strenuous, and all areas are wheelchair accessible.
Good to know
Wear sturdy shoes for cobbled surfaces. The weather can change quickly; bring a waterproof layer. Prams and strollers work fine on the route. Service animals welcome. Public transport nearby if you need to rest beforehand or extend the day.
