About this tour
Travel through Belfast's politically charged streets in a black taxi, guided by a local who interprets the city's murals as documents of The Troubles. Over 90 minutes to 2 hours, you'll encounter striking artworks created by both Republican and Loyalist communities, including the 25-foot-high Peace Wall adorned with signatures from global figures. This private tour explores how street art became a visual record of conflict, protest, and eventual reconciliation in Northern Ireland.
Highlights
- Republican and Loyalist murals spanning decades of political division
- 25-foot Peace Wall with Dalai Lama and Clinton signatures
- Local driver-guide interpretation of The Troubles' visual legacy
- Private tour in authentic Belfast black taxi
- Hotel or accommodation pickup and drop-off included
What to expect
Your guide will drive you through neighbourhoods where murals function as public testimony—images layered with symbolism, commemoration, and political statement. You'll see works from both communities side by side, understanding how these walls documented conflict in real time. The Peace Wall itself, with its international signatures, marks a shift toward dialogue. Expect frank discussion about sectarian history; your guide speaks from lived experience, not rehearsed script. The taxi moves at a pace that lets you absorb the scale and detail of each piece.
