What to expect
A gently rolling gravel track across open New Forest heath and scattered trees. Terrain is firm and well-drained on the gravel surface, with minimal gradient. The route is straightforward to follow with no complex junctions. Expect to encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle and possibly donkeys grazing nearby; they are generally docile but give them space. Waymarking is clear on established tracks.

Dogs are welcome on this open access route but should be kept under control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds between March and July. Wear sturdy walking shoes or cycling shoes for gravel comfort. After heavy rain, the track may hold standing water in places, though drainage is generally good. There is no charge for access.
