What to expect
Well-defined footpath on forest floor, mostly level terrain with minimal gradient. The track is clear and waymarked, passing through shaded woodland. Underfoot conditions vary with the seasons—leaf litter in autumn, potential muddy patches after heavy rain. You may encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys grazing in clearings. The woodland provides good shelter from wind and weather.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Dogs are welcome on open access land but keep them under control near grazing animals. Avoid the route during March to July if ground-nesting birds are present, or keep dogs on leads. Wear sturdy, waterproof footwear, especially after rain. The trail is free to use. No facilities are located on the route itself.
