What to expect
Mostly level ground underfoot, likely a mix of grass, short heather and compacted earth. The path is straightforward with minimal waymarking required. You may encounter free-roaming New Forest ponies, cattle or donkeys grazing nearby. After wet weather, expect boggy patches in low-lying areas.

Dogs are allowed but keep them under control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March–July). Wear sturdy footwear; the ground can be soft and muddy after rain. There is no charge for access; it's open to all.
