What to expect
Level gravel underfoot, easy walking or riding pace throughout. The track is clear and easy to follow, passing through typical New Forest open access land with heath, scattered trees and occasional grazed lawns. You may encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys. Conditions can become muddy after rain despite the gravel surface.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Dogs are welcome under open access rules, but keep them under control near livestock and ground-nesting birds (March–July particularly sensitive). Wear sturdy footwear; after wet weather, bring boots for muddier patches. No facilities or charge; this is free open access land.
