About this cycle path
A short, easy cycle path near Minstead perfect for building confidence on two wheels. At just 140 metres, this is ideal for younger riders or a quick warm-up session. The Pump Track offers a fun, low-stress introduction to off-road cycling in the New Forest, set on open access land where dogs are welcome too.
Highlights
- Quick 5-minute ride, ideal for children
- Easy terrain, no steep climbs
- Open access—no charge or permits needed
- Dogs welcome on the route
What to expect
Flat, compact surface suitable for all bike types. No significant gradient to manage. The route should be well-defined and easy to follow. You may encounter other cyclists and, being on open access land, possibly grazing ponies, cattle or donkeys at a distance. Surface conditions are generally stable but may be muddy after heavy rain.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
- Open to cyclists
Wear appropriate cycling footwear and check your bike before riding. Keep dogs under control near any livestock. The route is free to use, year-round. After wet weather, the surface may be boggy in patches; a hybrid or mountain bike handles wet conditions better than a road bike.
