What to expect
A well-used forest track of gravel and compacted earth, mostly level and easy underfoot. The route passes through open heathland typical of the New Forest, with scattered trees and wide views. You may encounter grazing ponies, cattle and donkeys on open access land. The track is usually straightforward to follow; after wet weather, expect soft or muddy patches, particularly in hollows.
