What to expect
A gently graded dirt track suitable for steady walking. The path is well-used and straightforward to follow. Expect to share the route with grazing animals, particularly ponies and cattle. After rain, muddy patches are common on dirt tracks here. The route winds through typical New Forest mosaic of heath and trees, with minimal steep sections.

Dogs are welcome on this open-access route but keep them under control near livestock and ground-nesting birds (March–July). Waterproof or sturdy walking shoes are advisable, especially after wet weather. There's no charge to walk here. The terrain is free of major obstacles, making it suitable for most fitness levels.
