About this footpath
A short, straightforward footpath near New Milton covering 800 metres in about 10 minutes. This easy walk crosses open New Forest terrain typical of the park's heathland and lawns grazed by free-roaming ponies, cattle and donkeys. Ideal for a quick outing or to combine with nearby routes.

What to expect
Level walking on firm ground with a mix of heathland and short grass lawns. The path is unfenced and passes through open access land where you'll encounter grazing ponies, cattle and donkeys — generally calm and accustomed to walkers. The route is straightforward with minimal waymarking needed. Can be muddy in wet weather.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Dogs are welcome but should be kept under control near grazing livestock. Avoid the route during ground-nesting bird season (March to July) or stay on the main path. Wear sturdy footwear, especially after rain. There is no charge for access to the New Forest's open land.
