What to expect
Mostly flat terrain on gravel tracks and well-trodden paths. Waymarking is clear. You'll pass through open heathland grazed by free-roaming ponies, cattle and donkeys, so expect to encounter them. The woodland sections offer dappled shade. After rain, muddy patches are likely on lower sections. The route is short enough to feel unhurried.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
- Waymarked route
Dogs are welcome on open access but must be kept under control near livestock and ground-nesting birds (March–July particularly sensitive). Wear sturdy footwear; boots handle mud and rough ground better than trainers. No facilities or charges apply. The walk suits families and less experienced walkers.
