About this footpath
A straightforward 1.5 km footpath following the route of a former railway line near Hythe. Mostly level, mud underfoot, and quick to walk in about 20 minutes. This short route suits a casual stroll through the New Forest's accessible margins, popular with locals and dogs alike.

What to expect
Flat terrain underfoot on mud surface, which can be boggy and slippery after rain—wear appropriate footwear. The trail is open access and generally well-trodden, though waymarking may be minimal. Expect to encounter grazing livestock on the surrounding open forest, so keep dogs under control.

- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
No charge. Dogs are welcome but keep them close to livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March–July). Mud will be heaviest after wet weather; a short route means you won't be far from the start if conditions are poor. Standard walking boots advised.
