What to expect
A well-defined gravel track with minimal gradient, typical of New Forest forest roads. The route passes through mixed woodland and open heath. Expect to encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle and donkeys. Ground may be muddy in wet weather. The track is straightforward to follow; no navigation skills required.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
No facilities on the route itself. Dogs are allowed on open access but keep them under control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March–July). Wear sturdy footwear; the track can be boggy after heavy rain. There is no charge for access.
