What to expect
Flat, easy terrain underfoot with minimal gradient. The footpath crosses open New Forest grazing land where ponies, cattle and donkeys roam freely, so expect to encounter livestock. The route is likely well-trodden and straightforward to follow. After rain, ground may be damp in places.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Dogs are allowed but keep them under control near livestock and avoid the area during March–July when ground-nesting birds are breeding. The New Forest is free open access with no charge. Wear appropriate footwear for potentially muddy conditions after wet weather.
