Highlights
- Quick, accessible walk from Hythe
- Open heathland scenery
- Dogs welcome on open access
- Free to use, no restrictions
What to expect
Flat or gently rolling terrain underfoot, likely a mix of grass and possibly gravel. Being so short, there's minimal elevation change. Waymarking should be clear for such a brief route. You may encounter free-roaming New Forest livestock — ponies, cattle and donkeys — so keep dogs under control and stay aware of your surroundings.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
After wet weather, patches may be boggy, so waterproof footwear is sensible. Dogs are allowed but should be kept close where livestock grazes, especially during the ground-nesting bird season (March–July). The route is on open access land, free to use year-round. This is a fleeting walk — perfect for a quick visit.
