What to expect
A level gravel track underfoot, well-defined and easy to follow. You'll walk through open heathland grazed by New Forest ponies, cattle and donkeys, interspersed with areas of young woodland. The surface is generally firm, though may be muddy or soft after rain. Waymarking is minimal given the track's clarity. Gradient is negligible.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Dogs are welcome on open access land but keep them under control near grazing livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March to July). Wear sturdy walking shoes or boots; surfaces can be wet and boggy after rain. No facilities or charges. This short route works well combined with other nearby paths for a longer outing.
