- Easy terrain suitable for all fitness levels
- Chance to see free-roaming New Forest stock
- Open-access route, no charges or permits needed
What to expect
A straightforward footpath on level or gently undulating ground. Surfaces are likely to be a mix of grass, light gravel and forest floor—possibly boggy or muddy after rain, so waterproof footwear is wise. Waymarking should be clear on a route this short. Expect to encounter grazing ponies, cattle or donkeys on the open land.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Dogs must be kept under control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March–July). The path is free to use year-round. After wet weather, bring waterproof boots. Sturdy trainers or walking shoes suit the terrain. No facilities are mentioned for such a short route.
