The track follows open-access land where you may encounter grazing ponies, cattle and donkeys. No facilities or specific landmarks, but a straightforward introduction to the Forest's character.

What to expect
A simple gravel or dirt track underfoot with minimal gradient. The route is flat and unfenced, typical of New Forest access land. Expect to share space with ponies, cattle and donkeys, which graze freely throughout the area. The track may be muddy after rain. Waymarking is minimal on such short routes, so simple navigation.

Dogs are allowed on open-access land but keep them under control near livestock and between March and July, when ground-nesting birds are raising young. No charge for access. Suitable for wellies or sturdy walking shoes if wet. This is a brief detour rather than a destination in itself.
