Highlights
- Quick Forest stroll near Ringwood
- Open access — no permits or fees
- Dogs welcome on lead near livestock
- Easy, flat walking
What to expect
A short, level path across typical New Forest terrain. The ground is likely firm in dry conditions but may be muddy or boggy after rain. The route is simple to follow, though formal waymarking may be minimal on such a short stretch. You may encounter ponies, cattle or donkeys grazing freely, so keep dogs close by.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Ash Grove is free to access and open to the public. Wear sturdy walking shoes, especially after wet weather. Keep dogs on a lead near grazing livestock and year-round to protect ground-nesting birds (March to July particularly).
