What to expect

Predominantly gravel forest tracks with occasional rougher patches and short stretches of open heath. Gradient is gentle overall with no steep climbs. Waymarking is clear and consistent. Expect to encounter grazing ponies, cattle and donkeys on open access land; they are accustomed to cyclists but give them space. Surfaces may be muddy or puddled after rain.

Good to know

  • Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
  • Open to cyclists
  • Waymarked route

No facilities or charges. Wear sturdy cycling shoes with good grip; gravel and wet surfaces demand traction. Keep dogs under control around livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March–July). Avoid peak grazing hours early morning and dusk if concerned about encountering animals. The route is free open access.
