Beechen Lane is a short, easy gravel track near Lyndhurst, ideal for a quick walk or cycle ride. The route follows a well-maintained forest track through typical New Forest terrain, taking about ten minutes to cover. It's open access, free to use, and welcomes both walkers and cyclists.

What to expect
A straightforward gravel track through forest, relatively level and well-drained. Waymarking is clear. You may encounter free-roaming New Forest ponies, cattle and donkeys, so keep dogs under control. After heavy rain, muddy patches can develop, but the gravel base generally handles moisture well.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept under close control around livestock and away from heathland during ground-nesting bird season (March to July). Wear sturdy walking boots or appropriate cycling footwear; the gravel can be uneven. No facilities or charge—this is free open access.
