What to expect
A gentle, mostly level track with a mix of gravel surface and grassland underfoot. You'll pass through open heathland and scattered woodland (both ancient and ornamental forest). After heavy rain, expect muddy patches. The route is straightforward and unlikely to cause navigation uncertainty. Grazing ponies, cattle and donkeys may be present; keep dogs under close control near livestock.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
This is free open access land—no permit needed. Wear sturdy, waterproof footwear as the ground can be boggy after rain. Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control near grazing animals and away from ground-nesting birds during March to July. The track is shared use, so be aware of other visitors.
