What to expect
A level, straightforward walk on a well-trodden track. Terrain is easy underfoot, typical of Forest open access ground—gravel or grassy surface depending on recent weather. No significant gradients. The route is short and simple, making waymarking largely unnecessary. Watch for free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys grazing the lawns.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Dogs are welcome on open-access land but should be kept under control near grazing livestock. Between March and July, avoid disturbing ground-nesting birds. After heavy rain, boggy patches may occur, so waterproof footwear is sensible. No facilities or charges apply; this is free, open Forest access.
