What to expect
A straightforward gravel track on mostly level ground. The surface is typical New Forest — firm underfoot in dry weather, potentially muddy after rain. Minimal waymarking needed given the short distance and clear path. You may encounter grazing livestock (ponies, cattle, donkeys) on the open access land; keep dogs under control and move quietly past animals.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
No facilities on-site. Wear sturdy shoes or boots, especially after wet weather when mud patches appear. Dogs are permitted on open access but must be kept away from livestock and ground-nesting birds between March and July. Free access year-round.
