What to expect
Flat or gently undulating terrain underfoot, likely a mix of grass, heathland and possible gravel or earth patches. The route is short and undemanding with no significant climbs. You may encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys grazing the open access land. Waymarking should be clear for such a short route, though the informal nature of the terrain means you'll use common sense to follow the path.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Dogs are allowed here on open access land, but keep them under control around grazing livestock and watch for ground-nesting birds March to July. The ground can be boggy after heavy rain. Wear suitable walking shoes with grip. There is no charge; this is free public access to the New Forest commons.
