About this cycle path
A 6 km cycle route through varied New Forest terrain on gravel tracks, suitable for confident riders. The moderate difficulty reflects rolling woodland sections and open heathland, with a mix of shaded forest and exposed stretches. Starting near Ringwood, the route crosses ancient woodland inclosures and open lawns where ponies, cattle and donkeys roam freely. Allow 25 minutes for a steady pace, though terrain and weather will affect your time.

What to expect
Compacted gravel throughout, with gentle to moderate climbs and descents. The route alternates between shaded woodland sections and more exposed heathland. Ground may be muddy or waterlogged after heavy rain, particularly in boggy patches. You will encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle and donkeys — pass quietly and give them space. Waymarking is generally clear but visibility may reduce in dense tree cover.
