What to expect
Flat, well-trodden ground underfoot, mostly grass and light leaf litter. The route passes through open heathland and beech woodland typical of the New Forest's character. No significant slopes. Waymarking should be clear for such a short path. You may encounter free-roaming ponies or cattle; dogs should be kept under control.

This is open access land with no charge. Wear comfortable, water-resistant footwear in case of muddy patches after rain. Keep dogs on leads or under close control, particularly from March to July when ground-nesting birds are breeding. The short distance makes this ideal for visitors with limited time or mobility.
