What to expect
Flat, easy underfoot walking on open-access land. Waymarking should be clear for such a short route. You may encounter free-roaming New Forest livestock including ponies, cattle and donkeys, so keep dogs under control. The ground can be boggy after heavy rain, but the short distance means it dries fairly quickly.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
This is free, open-access land with no charge to visit. Wear appropriate footwear for damp conditions. Keep dogs on leads near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds between March and July. This short walk works well as a warm-up or combined with nearby routes for a longer outing.
