About this cycle route
A challenging 8.8 km cycle route near Sopley that tests your bike-handling skills on the Forest's mixed terrain. Expect a mix of gravel forest tracks, short road sections and potentially boggy patches, especially after rain. This route is best suited to riders comfortable with variable surfaces and gradients. Waymarked throughout, it's ideal for an afternoon blast rather than a leisurely spin.
Highlights
- Gravel forest tracks with technical riding sections
- Mix of inclosure woodland and open heathland views
- 35-minute workout for intermediate to experienced cyclists
- Potential water crossings and boggy ground after wet weather
What to expect
A demanding ride mixing compacted forest gravel, loose surfaces and short stretches of harder terrain. Gradients are notable in places. The route weaves through both enclosed woodland (inclosures) and more open heath with free-roaming ponies, cattle and donkeys. Waymarking is clear. Trail conditions vary; after rain, sections become muddy and potentially boggy. Not a smooth tarmac circuit.
