The Castleman Trailway is a challenging 28 km walk following a historic route through the New Forest and beyond, connecting Sopley to Wimborne. This long-distance path traverses varied woodland and open heathland, offering a substantial day out for experienced walkers. What to expect
Gravel forest tracks, some softer earth paths through heathland, and occasional boggy patches after rain. The terrain is gently undulating with no steep climbs but sustained throughout the day. Waymarks are consistent. Expect to share open access areas with free-roaming ponies, cattle and donkeys; they are generally docile but give them space.
