About this track
Cooper's Lane is a straightforward gravel track walk near Totton, covering 1.6 km in around 20 minutes. Easy terrain and open access make it a quick outing suitable for all abilities. The track runs through typical New Forest landscape—a mix of open heathland and woodland fringing—where ponies, cattle and donkeys roam freely.

What to expect
A level, well-drained gravel surface underfoot with minimal gradient. The route is straightforward and easy to follow through open access land. Expect to encounter grazing livestock—ponies, cattle and donkeys—so keep dogs under control. After heavy rain, parts may become muddy despite the gravel surface.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead near livestock and during the nesting season (March to July). No facilities or charges apply. Wear sensible walking shoes with grip; after wet weather, the track can be soft underfoot. This is a relaxed walk, not a strenuous hike.
