About this footpath
A straightforward 1.6 km footpath on fine gravel near Totton, easily walked in around 20 minutes. This easy route is ideal for a quick outing or as part of a longer New Forest visit. The path traverses typical Forest terrain—open heath and woodland—without steep climbs or technical ground. Dogs are welcome on this open-access route.

What to expect
Flat to gently undulating ground on well-maintained fine gravel. The route passes through a mix of open heathland and woodland; you may encounter grazing ponies, cattle or donkeys. The path is straightforward and easy to follow. After heavy rain, some gravel sections may become soft or muddy.

This is free, open-access land with no entry charge. Keep dogs under control near livestock and avoid ground-nesting birds during breeding season (March–July). Standard walking boots or trainers are adequate for the fine gravel surface; after rain, waterproof footwear is sensible.
