What to expect
Varied terrain including gravel forest tracks, country lanes and some tarmac sections. Surfaces range from firm to soft and boggy, especially after rain. Gentle to moderate gradients throughout. You'll encounter grazing ponies, cattle and donkeys on open access areas. Waymarking is consistent. The route demands stamina and confidence on mixed surfaces over several days.

Bring a robust hybrid or gravel bike with appropriate tyres for wet, loose ground. Dogs are welcome on open access land but must be kept under control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March–July). Mud and standing water are common after rain. No charge for access. Plan overnight stops in advance; break the 336 km into manageable daily stages.
