- Waymarked navigation across 123 km terrain

What to expect
Predominantly loose gravel and compacted forest tracks, with sections of sealed road and bridleway. Terrain is generally undulating, with several gradual climbs across heathland and through wooded sections. Waymarking is present but navigating 123 km demands attention to route signs and map reading. Expect free-roaming New Forest livestock — ponies, cattle and occasionally donkeys — crossing tracks and grazing on open areas. Ground can be boggy in wet conditions.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
- Open to cyclists
- Waymarked route
This is a serious ride requiring a capable hybrid or mountain bike with good tyres for gravel. Bring water, food and repair kit — facilities are sparse on such a long, remote route. Dogs are allowed but keep them under close control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March to July). No charge for access. Waterproof clothing essential; conditions underfoot worsen significantly after rain.
