What to expect
Flat, compacted underfoot conditions with minimal gradient. The path is straightforward and easy to follow across open-access New Forest ground. Expect to encounter grazing ponies, cattle or donkeys; keep dogs under control near livestock and during bird-nesting season (March to July). After heavy rain, some muddy patches may occur, though the compacted surface drains reasonably well.
