What to expect
A gentle gravel forest track through mixed woodland, mostly level and easy underfoot. The path is straightforward to follow with minimal gradient. You may encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys grazing in the forest, so keep dogs under control. Surface can be muddy after rain, though the short distance means this is rarely problematic.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March–July). Wear suitable footwear for potentially damp gravel. There is no charge for access. The route is open to the public year-round as part of the New Forest's open access land.
