About this footpath
A short, flat footpath on asphalt just outside Totton, ideal for a quick leg-stretch or part of a longer walk. Selsdon Avenue offers easy walking with minimal time commitment, making it suitable for all ages and abilities. Good for breaking up a journey or combining with nearby New Forest routes to build a fuller outing.
Highlights
- Five-minute stroll, accessible for all abilities
- Flat asphalt surface, easy underfoot
- Dogs welcome on open access
- Quick break from busier areas
What to expect
Level asphalt underfoot throughout. No gradient to speak of. The path is straightforward and short, so waymarking is minimal. You may encounter grazing livestock (ponies, cattle, donkeys) on adjacent open access land, so keep dogs under control and respect gates. Minimal mud concerns given the sealed surface.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
- Firm/surfaced — more accessible going
This is a brief utility path rather than a scenic ramble. Combine with longer New Forest routes nearby for a more substantial walk. No facilities on the route itself. Dogs must be kept close to livestock and away from nesting birds (March–July). Sturdy shoes are fine; nothing specialist needed.
