What to expect
Flat or gently undulating ground underfoot, a mix of gravel tracks and grass paths. The route is straightforward with no significant climbs. Expect to pass through open heathland and patches of woodland typical of the Forest. After rain, some sections may be muddy or boggy. Livestock graze freely here, so you'll likely encounter ponies, cattle or donkeys.

Dogs are welcome on open access land but must be under control near grazing animals and away from ground-nesting birds (March to July). No facilities at the trailhead; wear suitable footwear for wet ground after rain. Free access, no permit needed. Best in dry conditions.
