What to expect
A straightforward gravel or earth track underfoot, level throughout. The route is short and clearly defined, requiring minimal navigation. You'll cross open-access heathland or grassland grazed by Forest livestock — ponies, cattle and donkeys roam freely, so keep dogs under control. No steep gradients or obstacles; suitable for all abilities.

Keep dogs on lead near livestock and ground-nesting birds (March to July). The track may be muddy after rain. There is no charge for access — the New Forest is open to the public. Wear sturdy footwear suitable for uneven ground. This short route works well as a warm-up or combined with longer nearby walks.
