What to expect
Flat, easy walking on a wooden boardwalk surface throughout. The path crosses naturally damp or boggy ground typical of the New Forest, but the boards keep your feet raised and dry. No steep gradients. The route is straightforward to follow with minimal waymarking needed. You may encounter grazing livestock or ponies on adjacent open access land.

Dogs are allowed but should be kept under control near livestock and away from ground-nesting birds between March and July. No facilities on the route itself. There is no charge for use. Sturdy walking shoes or boots are recommended, though the boardwalk surface reduces mud concerns.
