What to expect
Straightforward ground underfoot with minimal elevation change. The path follows typical New Forest character through open heathland or grassland grazed by free-roaming ponies, cattle and donkeys. Waymarking is clear for such a short route. Expect soft, sometimes boggy ground, especially after rain.

Dogs should be kept on a lead from March to July when ground-nesting birds are breeding, and near livestock at all times. Wear sturdy, waterproof footwear as the ground can be muddy after rain. This is free open-access land with no facilities or charge.
