What to expect
The route combines coastal paths, woodland tracks and open ground typical of the New Forest fringe. Terrain ranges from firm shoreline to softer forest tracks and occasional muddy patches, especially after rain. Gradients vary considerably—some steep climbs alternate with gentler, flat stretches. Waymarking is clear. You may encounter free-roaming livestock and should expect muddy conditions in places.
