This challenging 39 km coastal walk follows the King Charles III England Coast Path from Calshot to Gosport, tracing Hampshire's Solent shoreline. The route combines waterfront sections with inland detours around private land, offering views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Fawley is the nearest town. Allow nearly nine hours; this is a full day's outing suited to experienced walkers with good fitness.

What to expect
Varied terrain: gravel tracks, grass verges, shingle beaches and short stretches of tarmac. The route is mostly level but feels demanding due to length and occasional soft ground near marsh. After rain, muddy patches are common. Waymarking is clear. You'll encounter open access land where cattle, ponies and donkeys graze freely; keep dogs under close control.

Wear sturdy, waterproof footwear; the going can be muddy and damp underfoot, especially in winter and after heavy rain.
