What to expect
Underfoot you'll find compacted gravel track, generally firm and dry. The route is flat with no noticeable gradient. The lane sits within typical New Forest woodland and open heath, where you may encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys — keep dogs under control and give livestock space. The track is straightforward to follow.

This is open access land at no charge. Dogs are allowed but must be kept away from livestock and ground-nesting birds, which are sensitive March to July. After heavy rain the track may retain water in places. Wear comfortable walking shoes or light boots. No facilities nearby; plan accordingly.
