What to expect
Level ground underfoot, mostly open heathland. Very short with negligible gradient. Minimal waymarking needed given the brevity. Expect to share the space with free-roaming New Forest ponies, cattle and donkeys. Ground can be boggy after heavy rain, though the short distance means wet patches are easily avoided.

Dogs are allowed on open access land but keep them under control near grazing livestock and away from nesting birds March to July. Wear sturdy footwear if ground is wet. There is no charge for access. This is a brief walk — suitable as a warm-up rather than a full outing.
