What to expect
Flat or gently undulating heathland underfoot, with firm ground on the main paths. The route is short and easy to follow. You may encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys on the open access ground, so keep dogs under control. After rain, boggy patches can appear on heathland, so waterproof footwear is advisable.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
This is a very short outing—ideal for stretching legs between stops. The route is free open access with no charge. Dogs are welcome but should be kept close to livestock and away from ground-nesting birds between March and July. Standard walking shoes suffice in dry conditions; waterproof boots recommended after rain.
