What to expect
Gravel forest tracks dominate, with some harder-packed and others loose. Expect uneven ground, ruts and wet patches, especially after rain. Gradient is moderate with some stiff climbs and rewarding descents. The route is open to the sky in places and tree-lined in others. Livestock (ponies, cattle, donkeys) roam freely; stay alert and slow if you encounter them. Waymarking is present to guide you.

Muddy sections are common after wet weather—sturdy tyres and bike control essential. Dogs are welcome on open access but must be under control near livestock and ground-nesting birds (March–July).
