The Alley
About this track
The Alley is a very short, easy track near Fordingbridge, ideal for a quick stroll or as part of a longer walk. The unpaved surface and minimal distance make it accessible to most ability levels. This is a straightforward route through typical New Forest terrain.
Highlights
- Quick 5-minute walk suitable for all abilities
- Open access — no entry fees or barriers
- Dogs welcome on lead near livestock
- Unpaved forest track underfoot
What to expect
Flat or gently rolling terrain on an unpaved track. The surface is likely a mix of gravel and earth, which may be boggy in wet weather. Waymarking should be clear given the short distance. You may encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys on open access land, so keep dogs under control.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
Wear sturdy footwear to handle loose gravel and potential mud. Dogs must be kept on a lead near grazing livestock and away from ground-nesting birds (March–July). The route is free to use. After heavy rain, expect wet patches underfoot.
