A straightforward gravel or earth track through New Forest woodland, mostly flat underfoot. The route is clearly defined and easy to follow. You may encounter free-roaming ponies, cattle or donkeys, so keep dogs close and under control. After heavy rain the surface may be muddy in patches.
Good to know
- Dogs welcome (keep under control near livestock & wildlife)
No facilities or charges — this is open-access forest. Wear appropriate footwear for muddy conditions after rain. Dogs must be kept under control, especially during bird-nesting season (March to July) and near grazing livestock. Five minutes allows for a peaceful, low-impact outing.
